Since the 1900s, Jumpup cabin has been used by ranchers as well as the Forest Service, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
With a panoramic view of Kanab Creek Wilderness, the cabin sits on the edge of Jumpup canyon. From the front door you take in a wide open expanse of red rock descending into canyon walls below, lined with juniper, pinyon, yuccas, sage and cliffrose.
Important Note Regarding Registration to Participate in Field Trips
Due to limited group size and high demand, you must register to participate in field trips. Sign up begins one month prior to each trip at approximately 1:10 p.m. on each Friday at the conclusion of the Brown Bag lecture. Participants must provide their own vehicles and fuel. Many trips will require a high clearance vehicle and four-wheel drive capacity. Lunch is provided by DASIA for a cost of $10 per person.
This schedule is subject to change based on weather, road conditions and safety considerations. Please contact the Public Lands Information Center for any schedule or location changes.
